Thanksgiving 2008

Your first Thanksgiving! Grandma Monica came for Thanksgiving and so did you aunts and uncles! This was your first time meeting Uncle Ben (since he was in South Carolina at school when you were born). We had our annual feast at Grammie and Poppy's house.

The first few days...

Starting with your birth - what a smooth delivery! Dad was so helpful and you were so easy, only weighing 6 lbs 4 oz! You had a little Jaundice, so you were "under the lights" (as the nurses called it) for two days after you were born. But otherwise you were happy and healthy. Dad and I (mom) had to leave you at the hospital overnight while we went home because our stay was up - how sad! I was so sad to leave you, but your dad assured me everything would be okay. You will quickly learn that your dad is one strong man.

Your hospital visitors included: Grammie, Poppy, Aunt Betsy, Aunt Katie, Grandma Monica, Uncle Grant, Uncle Mart, The Campbells, Regina and Joedell, Roweana, Sissy, and Jenny LeHew!

The next morning we went to the hospital to pick you up and bring you home to Sparkleberry Terrace. Everything was waiting for you! Grandma Monica had cleaned up, put together your pack n' play, and had a sign ("Welcome Home Jack") and balloons waiting for your arrival. Lovie didn't know what was coming, but got to meet you soon enough!

The day we brought you home was November 4th, 2008. This was voting Tuesday for the election of the 44th President of the United States. Your dad drove all the way to Lynchburg to vote - and brought you back a sticker. Your very first presidential election - although our candidate of choice did not win, it was a day that we will remember forever.

The first few days home with you were great - you had some visitors, but mainly time with mom and dad. (Visitors included: Montte, Margy, Jen Andrews with Babbie and Merrill) After the first week of being home together, dad left for a business trip and Lexi came to visit! We had a really good time, although we missed dad terribly. Next time he leaves, we are going with him!

I'm almost 4 months and you just started blogging?

Jack is almost 4 months and here is his blog! I (mom) used to think blogging was not for me, until I came across a blog of a friend who decided to turn her blog into a book (using this website). What a great idea! Hopefully in addition to a scrapbook of many memories, Jack will get to look through his blog book! I have decided only to let a few family members know about this blog and make additions as they feel led. So here we go!
